The Racial and Identity Profiling Advisory (RIPA) Board was created “for the purpose of eliminating racial and identity profiling, and improving diversity and racial and identity sensitivity in law enforcement.” (Pen. Code, § 13519.4, subd. (j)(1).) To that end, the Board engages in a variety of work in partnership with state and local law enforcement agencies, community stakeholders, and academic researchers, including:
As required by AB 953, on July 1, 2016, the Attorney General established the RIPA Board for the purpose of eliminating racial and identity profiling, and improving diversity and racial and identity sensitivity in law enforcement.

Previous subcommittees of the Board, created to specifically advise the Attorney General on the development of the Stop Data Regulations, included: Additional Data Elements subcommittee, Calls for Service, Definitions subcommittee, Searches & Seizures subcommittee, Special Considerations/Settings subcommittee, Technology subcommittee, Outreach subcommittee, Evidence-Based Research and Best Practices (Subcommittee Combined with Stop Data Subcommittee June, 2019).
