Evidence Submission Agreement
By submitting evidence for analysis to the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Forensic Services (BFS) the submitting agency is agreeing to the following:
- All evidence items are in the lawful possession of law enforcement, whether by warrant, consent, or other recognized justification, and the requested examination falls within the scope of that legal authority.
- BFS shall decide the specific method of analysis.

BFS shall provide reports in adherence to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ANAB AR 3125 reporting requirements. However, the report may be produced in a simplified manner with one or more of the following omitted from the report, but available upon request by the investigating agency:
- Identification of the method used
- Contact information of the agency
- Date(s) of performance of laboratory activity (e.g. start and end testing dates)
